Abstract

GARCIA-ARREOLA, DAP. Epidural infusions for the management of postoperative pain in pediatrics. Anest. Méx. [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.2, pp.34-42. ISSN 2448-8771.

Caudal epidural analgesia produces beneficial effects in the paediatric population, this technique is often used under general anesthesia. Its objective is the management of postoperative pain of high quality. Among its advantages we have early ambulation, rapid suspension of mechanical ventilation, reduced time of the catabolic state and early food intake. Placement of required epidural catheters for continuous administration of local anesthetics, ensures the selective blocking of the dermatomes in the surgical procedure and allows you to administer lower doses of local anesthetics, with one high quality of analgesia even better than systemic analgesia.

Keywords : Caudal block; infusions anesthetics epidural; postoperative pain in children.
