Abstract

URIBE ORTIZ, Carolina. Dimensions for the Analytical Approach to Alienation in Researchers from the Autonomous University of Queretaro. Rev. latinoam. estud. educ. [online]. 2023, vol.53, n.1, pp.15-46.  Epub Oct 02, 2023. ISSN 2448-878X.  https://doi.org/10.48102/rlee.2023.53.1.530.

Marx developed the concept and mechanisms of the alienation phenomenon, referring to the characteristics and conditions of labor workers. However, its usefulness for the study of other types of productive activities, such as cognitive work is minimal: because the nature of the work and the nature of the product are different. This article develops a proposal of five dimensions that facilitate the analytical approach to the alienation of researchers from Mexican state public universities. This population has been exposed to high productivity demands in a context that values commodification and profitability. The proposed dimensions were constructed based on the analysis of documents, scientific literature, and interviews with 20 researchers from the Autonomous University of Queretaro, in which the context and contractual conditions of the researchers were identified, as well as the perception of the actors on the working conditions and alienation indicators. The five dimensions developed are: 1) Creative appropriation, 2) Labor-political, 3) Social, 4) Solidarity, and 5) Self-care.

Keywords : alienation; researchers; public university.
