Abstract
MONTERDE LOPEZ, Herminio. The Method of Acquisition and Socialization of Masewal-Nahua Knowledge of the Sierra Nororiental de Puebla through Local Terminologies. Rev. latinoam. estud. educ. [online]. 2023, vol.53, n.3, pp.183-213. Epub Oct 06, 2023. ISSN 2448-878X. https://doi.org/10.48102/rlee.2023.53.3.572.
The terminologies of indigenous peoples have a very important role within community dynamics, they are the fundamental basis for the expression of various social processes. Through a linguistic analysis, as well as the use of the concepts mati and ixmati “to know”, and talnamikilis understood as the masewal or Nahua perspective, the local method of acquisition and socialization of local knowledge is systematized, which is sustained and executed through orality, but also through the praxis of the people within the locality of San Miguel del Progreso, in the state of Puebla. This work derives from a close link between the academy and the community, in addition, it is the product of the application of its own methodology and techniques such as tahtolmatilis, which is “sharing what is known through orality”. Likewise, it constitutes a proposal that responds to one of the emerging needs faced by minority populations both in Mexico and in Latin America to deal with displacement, devaluation, and invisibility, through contextualized teaching and from an emic approach.
