Abstract

AULI, Iván. Ethnic Significance in Graduates of a Comprehensive Community Baccalaureate in Oaxaca. Rev. latinoam. estud. educ. [online]. 2023, vol.53, n.3, pp.385-430.  Epub Oct 06, 2023. ISSN 2448-878X.  https://doi.org/10.48102/rlee.2023.53.3.586.

This article presents the qualitative research results that analyze the ethnic academic instruction received by graduates from a Community High School (BIC) located in Mazatlán Villa de Flores, Oaxaca. From a qualitative methodology with an approach to ethnography, long stays were carried out, and interviews with graduates and field notes; for the analysis, a dialogue was established between the empirical referent and background investigation. The graduates mention that the high school made them recognize their ethnic identity, revitalize their mother tongue, know their own territory, and reflect on their Mazatec culture incorporating new ideas. In general, the BIC encourages an ethnic agency among the people who attended their classrooms. In the conclusions, the results are reflected and reference is made to the positive incidence that the BIC is having, by taking ethnic aspects of the indigenous communities of Oaxaca.
