Abstract

MARTINEZ-CAMACHO, Miguel Á. et al. Rehabilitation in post-cardiac transplantation. Experience in Mexico's General Hospital. Rev. med. Hosp. Gen. Méx. [online]. 2023, vol.86, n.4, pp.156-160.  Epub Oct 16, 2023. ISSN 2524-177X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/hgmx.23000003.

Post-heart transplant patient care is a challenging task for multidisciplinary teams. Thus, patient rehabilitation is of paramount importance. Phase I of cardiac rehabilitation helps prevent the pulmonary and functional sequelae found in patients whilst in ICU and during hospitalisation. Functional progression based on the global muscle strength, mobility, and exercise tolerance seem to be a good alternative for this population. The role of physiotherapy in critical care is crucial for the proper treatment of these patients.
