Abstract

NORIEGA-DIAZ, Julio H.  and  ARCE-SALINAS, Claudia H.. Chemotherapy induces complete response in malignant breast phyllodes tumor metastatic to lung. Gac. mex. oncol. [online]. 2020, vol.19, suppl.1, pp.41-44.  Epub Feb 14, 2022. ISSN 2565-005X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/j.gamo.19000317.

Phyllodes tumor of the breast is a rare neoplasm, representing < 1% of mammary tumors. We report the case of a 73-year-old woman with phyllodes tumor of 7 x 6 x 4 cm with pulmonary metastasis, who received six cycles of adriamycin, with complete response, and remained under surveillance. Breast phyllodes tumor presents with a median age of 45 years. Distant metastases in benign, borderline and malignant tumors represent 3.2%, 11.1% and 28.6% respectively, with lung, bone and abdomen being the most common sites. Metastases indicate a poor prognosis with an average survival of less than two years.

Keywords : Phyllodes tumor; Complete response; Adriamycin; Lung metastasis.
