Abstract

RUIZ-LOPEZ¹, Perla J.; PENARRIETA, Edgar A.; DIAZ, Diana L.  and  CEDILLO, Jonathan R.. Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. Case report and literature review. Gac. mex. oncol. [online]. 2022, vol.21, suppl.1, pp.84-89.  Epub Sep 11, 2023. ISSN 2565-005X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/j.gamo.22000064.

A 43-year-old male patient with a history of exposure to asbestos that began ten days before his hospitalization, with symptoms of generalized abdominal pain, accompanied by intestinal occlusive syndrome. Abdominal X-rays showed air-fluid levels, as well as dilation of intestinal loops and absence of gas in the rectal ampulla. Due to the findings, it was decided to perform an urgent exploratory laparotomy, finding carcinomatosis in the root of the mesentery with implants in the transverse and sigmoid colon, for which an extended left hemicolectomy was performed. A pathological study with complementary immunohistochemistry was performed. This confirmed the diagnosis of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.
