Abstract

A 65 year old woman with a history of Diabetes mellitus type 2 and systemic hypertension, presented with a gastric GIST with hemi diaphragm compromise, she was referred for surgical treatment and underwent thoracotomy for its resection. This tumors represent 1-2% of all the gastrointestinal tumors and are localized in 50% of the cases. Surgical resection depends on its size, location, metastasis at the time of diagnosis and the expertise of the surgeons involved.
