Abstract

LOBO, Bárbara Natália Lages  and  SAMPAIO, José Adércio Leite. Legal debate on prostitution, the dignity of the human person and the fundamental right to work. Debate fem. [online]. 2018, vol.55, pp.59-80.  Epub Nov 20, 2020. ISSN 2594-066X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cieg.01889478p.2018.55.03.

This article is based on a dense research project on the “underworld” of prostitution, from the perspective of fundamental rights and their implementation. It analyzes the relativization of human dignity caused by denying those who work as prostitutes the right to work, as well as their condition of invisibility and social stigma. The analysis of sexual rights encompassed by freedom also highlighted the indissolubility of the “normative amalgam” of law, morality and religion, demonstrating the urgent need to regulate this activity as a means of guaranteeing those who work as prostitutes equal respect and consideration.

Keywords : Prostitution; Fundamental rights; Dignity of the human person; Morality; Right to work.
