Abstract

UGALDE QUESADA, Alexia. The Women's Liberation Movement in Costa Rica (1975-1981). Debate fem. [online]. 2021, vol.62, pp.95-116.  Epub Dec 31, 2021. ISSN 2594-066X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cieg.2594066xe.2021.62.2275.

This article traces the history of the first group of the second feminist wave in Costa Rica, the Women's Liberation Movement (MLM). To understand the ideas and debates the movement introduced into the country, an analysis is conducted of its speeches published in the Qué Hacer? newspaper published by the Socialist Organization of Workers (OST), the first Costa Rican Trotskyist party. The author concludes that the MLM positioned the discussion on the reproductive rights of women and the double shift through an analysis of national reality linking radical feminism to Marxism.
