ROSIQUE-GIL, Edmundo; CORDOVA CORDOVA, Leydi Lorena; CAPPELLO-GARCIA, Silvia  and  CID-MARTINEZ, Alejandra. Ingoldian fungi of the cascades of the Agua Blanca State Park, Tabasco, Mexico. Sci. fungorum [online]. 2018, vol.47, pp.3-11. ISSN 2594-1321.

Background

Freshwater anamorphic ascomycetes are of great importance in lotic systems since they degrade submerged plant material and takes part in trophic chains. Studies on this group of fungi in Mexico are scarce.

Objective

To describe the diversity of freshwater anamorphic ascomycetes present in the waterfalls of a Protected Natural Area of Tabasco.

Methods

Foam samples were taken and processed using the conidiospore observation technique in fixed preparations from the water foam.

Results and conclusions

Nine species were identified, which are registered for the first time in the state of Tabasco and in Mexico: Campylospora chaetocladia, Diplocladiella taurina, Heliscus tentaculus, Jaculispora submersa, Lunulospora curvula, Miladina lecithina, Triscelophorus acuminatus, Triscelophorus monosporus, and Trisulcosporium acerinum. T. acuminatus, M. lecithina, and T. acerinum were the most abundant species. This is the first study in Mexico of this group of fungi.

Keywords : anamorphic ascomycetes; Classiculomycetes; foam; lotic system; Pezizomycetes; protected natural area; Sordariomycetes.
