Abstract

JURADO, Gonzalo Martín. The construction of LatinAmerican history: a reflection on the concepts used. Debates hist. [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.1, pp.95-114.  Epub May 02, 2022. ISSN 2594-2956.  https://doi.org/10.54167/debates-por-la-historia.v10i1.846.

This work approaches some concepts considered key in the teaching of colonial Latin-American history, centering on the colonial in relation to temporality; historicity regime; urbanity and city foundation; Bourbon reforms, the Jesuits, native peoples, and issues of gender. In order to establish a substantive relation among these concepts, we revised college level texts used in the teaching of Latin-American history. Furthermore, we revised some texts not usually considered in these courses that were considered of great importance to enrich the dialogue proposed in this work. Through them, different perspectives are shown, conceptual constructions around key topics and the complexity implied in the construction of the historiography of this period. The main objective of this work was to open a dialogue among texts from a relational perspective. The research presented is a qualitative study based on a written corpus that inquired about the complex relation established between the teaching of colonial Latin-American history and the bibliography proposed, focusing on a concrete case. This approach has the strength of offering a detail account of the materials used in teaching at college level, having always in mind that knowledge has its limitation, since knowledge construction is not only founded by the reading of such texts.

Keywords : college education; discourse; disciplinary knowledge.
