Abstract

MORENO MEDELLIN, Moisés. The Hegelian Gesamtkunstwerk. The importance of Opera in Hegel’s Aesthetics. Rev. filos. Univ. Iberoam. [online]. 2023, vol.55, n.154, pp.226-247.  Epub May 17, 2024. ISSN 2954-4602.  https://doi.org/10.48102/rdf.v55i154.166.

In the present work we will talk about the philosophical development that Hegel makes of the Opera in his Aesthetics. To achieve the above, we will make a brief explanation of the characteristics of the two versions that we have today of this Hegelian work; this both in its historical origin and in the theoretical implications that each of these texts has. Subsequently, we will locate the Opera in each of the versions of the Aesthetics, in order to thus expose the particularities and theoretical differences that exist between both bibliographic materials. It is worth mentioning that we will delve into the Opera thought of as Gesamt-kunstwerk, a notion that we find in the most recent version of Hegel’s Aesthetic courses, since we consider that in addition to its novelty, it is a notion of the spirit that can lead us to new details in the study of Hegelian philosophy.

Keywords : Hegel; Hotho; Kehler; Opera; Gesamtkunstwerk; Annemarie Gethmann-Siefert.
