MASFERRER KAN, Elio. From the Catholic project to the neoliberal articulation. From Ernesto Corripio to Norberto Rivera. Cuicuilco. Rev. cienc. antropol. [online]. 2020, vol.27, n.79, pp.19-55.  Epub May 21, 2021. ISSN 2448-8488.

This article analyzes the historical dynamics of the Catholic Church in Mexico from several perspectives; taking into account international and national contexts. It analyzes the different socio-political religious scenarios and contextualizes the ruptures and political alliances of the Church with the System. There is also a description of the crisis regarding the political Catholic project and development, in context, of alliances with the political left, as well as explaining the alliances of the Catholic hierarchy with the PRI-PAN system. First-hand information was used to support and explain the process of articulation of the hierarchy with the circle of power, as well as the break away from the Catholic bases.

Keywords : Ernesto Corripio Ahumada; Norberto Rivera Carrera; Mexican Catholic Church; Mexican political system.
