This paper examines the territorial organization of the oil industry in the municipality of Nanchital, Veracruz state. At present the high vulnerability faced in this zone can be explaned only under the consideration of the following three factors: the concentration of oil industry-related plants, the fragile natural environment and the socio-economic features prevalent in Nanchital.
