Resumen

SEGRELLES SERRANO, José Antonio. Capitalismo y organización de los espacios ganaderos en España. El caso de la Cooperativa Agropecuaria de Guissona. Invest. Geog [online]. 1999, n.39, pp.94-108. ISSN 2448-7279.

Spain's livestock productivity increase is directly related with the adoption of a capitalist system within the agricultural and livestock sector. The needs and requirements of this production system have a spatial component that becomes evident in the ways the territory is acquired, managed and organized by the most powerful agroindustrial firms whose labor centers and plants are disseminated all over the territory carrying out complex productive processes in order to generate profits and capital accumulation in the urban centers where these firms are located. The Spanish region of Catalunya has pioneered the adoption of intensive and capitalists methods of production in the livestock sector, this has allowed an earlier and more efficient capital accumulation than in other regions. From the metropolitan area of Barcelona and other nearby urban centers, many national and foreign firms take investment decisions that have a great impact on the creation, transformation and control of the region's agricultural and livestock spaces as well as Spain's.
