Resumen

CAMPOS CAMPOS, Salvador Francisco et al. Dehiscence of gastrointestinal anastomosis. What to do and what not to do. Cir. gen [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.4, pp.243-255.  Epub 27-Nov-2020. ISSN 1405-0099.

The dehiscence of anastomosis is one of the worst complications that can occur after a resection of the digestive tract that increase morbidity, mortality, time of hospital stay and the costs of care in an important way. Anastomotic dehiscence produces nonspecific symptoms and pain that should not be considered as a cardinal symptom because it is very difficult to make a difference between the usual postoperative pain caused by peritonitis secondary to anastomotic leakage; it is also possible to find alterations in vital signs mainly in the respiratory rate and heart rate. The diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion in a patient with an unusual evolution. The differentiation of the concepts of the dehiscence of anastomosis and fistula must be taken into account. The present systematic review integrates contributions in the incidence and risk factors, classification, prevention and treatment.
