MARTINEZ-SALAS, Alan de Jesús; CAZARES-GARCIA, Vania  y  MARTINEZ-ONATE, Ariel de Jesús. Single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Prospective non-randomized study of 106 cases. Cir. gen [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.2, pp.86-96.  Epub 05-Dic-2022. ISSN 1405-0099.  https://doi.org/10.35366/106719.

Introduction:

Single port laparoscopic surgery has been considered the natural evolution of the techniques of minimally invasive surgery for cholecystectomy with less postoperative pain, a faster return to normal activities and a better cosmesis.

Objective:

To report the analysis of 106 patients operated with single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy technique.

Material and methods:

We report the results of an 8 year prospective observational study of non-consecutive Laparoscopic Single Port Cholecystectomy patients using a standardized technique, all patients had diagnosis of chronic and acute cholecystitis, lithiasic and non lithiasic based on clinical grounds, ultrasonography and CT Scan. Study variables included were the demographic characteristics, operating room time, bleeding, hospital stay, complications and postoperative pain.

Results:

From June 2010 to December 2018, 106 patients were operated, 44 (41.5%) were non elective and 62 (58.5%) were elective (p = 0.0001). OR average time was 85.7 ± 35.7 minutes. Ten patients (9.4%) presented a complication, 6 were during surgery and 4 POP, according to Clavien-Dindo classification, 2 were type II, 1 was type IIIa and 1 was type IIIb.

Conclusions:

Single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy technique has demonstrated to be a safe, reliable, reproducible technique comparable in safety and results with the conventional laparoscopic multiport technique with a relevant cosmetic advantage.
