This paper studies the discourse around and the image of Malinali (la Malinche), as a historical and literary figure. The study encompasses the journalistic and literary discourse since the beginning of the XXth century -although it actually started in the XIXth- and the reflection upon Mexican identity and its artistic and cultural representation in the second half of the XXth century, as well as how children and young people view Malinali in the XXIth century. It is shown the diversity of opinion and different versions of the character according to the views of the social actors in question, and the historical change of this outlook taking place in our time.
