VILLAFUERTE-SOLIS, Daniel. Rural Crisis, Poverty and Hunger in Chiapas. LiminaR [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.1, pp.13-28. ISSN 2007-8900.
The stark image of the rural crisis and poverty in Mexico in the second decade of the century is expressed clearly in the traditionally poorer states, Chiapas, Guerrero and Oaxaca, which ones in 2012 add up about four million hungry people. In Chiapas, although a reduction of 5.6 percentage points is reported in people who suffer from hunger. The situation acquires more complex features because two of the reasons behind the armed uprising of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation were the poverty and the hunger. In this article I analyze, the crisis in rural Chiapas, the poverty and the hunger, from a relational perspective, having as support the theory of crisis and the data generated by some federal agencies.
Palabras llave : rural crisis; poverty; food dependency; hunger.
