ROBLES GARZA, Magda Yadira  y  GARCIA LOPEZ, Diego Saúl. Environmental Justice in Mexico: Protection of Indigenous Communities under the Magnifying Glass of Escazú. Rev. IUS [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.49, pp.253-283.  Epub 06-Jun-2022. ISSN 1870-2147.  https://doi.org/10.35487/rius.v16i49.2022.758.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations Organization (UN), established the goals that States must meet in terms of development, care for the environment and mitigation/adaptation to climate change. As part of the actions aimed at meeting these goals, the Regional Agreement known as the “Escazú Agreement” was adopted in Latin America, with the aim of guaranteeing the right to a healthy environment through the eradication of discrimination. The purpose of this research is to analyze the criteria established in the field of environmental justice in Mexico, to guarantee the human right to a healthy environment for vulnerable groups, specifically indigenous communities; in order to identify the successes and areas of opportunity for their protection.
