Resumen
ARROYO-CABRALES, Joaquín; POLACO, Oscar J. y GUZMAN, Ana Fabiola. Fossil record of the Neotropical otter in Mexico. Therya [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.2, pp.257-264. ISSN 2007-3364. https://doi.org/10.12933/therya-13-142.
The scarce Mexican fossil record for the Neotropical otter Lontra longicaudis (Carnívora, Mustelidae, Lutrini) is synthesized. The two available records, previously reported under different species name, are the only ones known from the Pleistocene of America. Also, three archaeological records suggest that this animal may have been known by the Prehispanic people in the country.
