MURILLO-VILLANUEVA, Brenda; CARBAJAL SUAREZ, Yolanda y JESUS ALMONTE, Leobardo de. Wage Inequality in Mexico’s Manufacture, 2007-2018. Ens. Rev. econ. [online]. 2021, vol.40, n.1, pp.29-54. Epub 27-Sep-2021. ISSN 2448-8402. https://doi.org/10.29105/ensayos40.1-2.
This paper analyzes the determinants of wage inequality in Mexico’s manufacture. Among the consensual determinants in the economic literature are trade openness, technical change, labor supply, and institutional aspects of the labor market. Therefore, by means of a panel data model, this work seeks to prove the statistical significance of these variables as determinants of wage inequality in the 21 Mexican manufacturing subsectors in the period 2007-2018. The results show that trade openness, technical change, labor supply, and labor reforms impinge positively on wage inequality.
