This article focuses its attention on the relevance of music as an anthropological field of study by way of a subject that has been little studied in anthropology, such as traditional lute making, and more specifically, regarding the style of lute used for son jarocho music in the municipality of Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz. The paper also highlights the importance of musical instruments as historical sources and as cultural expressions of any given society.
