Resumen
CIARAMITARO, Fernando. María Guadalupe Rivera and the Holy Office: visions and beliefs of a beata novohispana. Cuicuilco. Rev. cienc. antropol. [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.83, pp.235-278. Epub 10-Oct-2022. ISSN 2448-8488.
Using Mexican and Spanish sources, this paper presents the inquisitorial process carried out by beata María Guadalupe Rivera in New Spain in the 18th Century. The objective is to analyze some indications of the love of God, typical of the heresy of the deluded, of their the visions, between demons and states of childishness, that the condemned used to make evident the state of grace that they had supposedly been granted by God. Such manifestations testify to a cultural environment of an entire era and a repressive system attentive to any deviation.
