This article aims to explore the Catholic Church’s historical perspective concerning mass media during the 20th century. The discussion is based on an analysis of articles published in the general circulation magazine of the Mexican Institute for Christian Social Doctrine (IMDOsOc) Signo de los tiempos, which has appeared continuously for the last forty years. The purpose is to show the evolution of both churchmen and lay people on this topic as expressed in the pages of the magazine, from its foundation in 1983, till 2023.
