The International Year of Chemistry is celebrated on 2011. By the initiative of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) was approved on December 30th 2008 by the United Nations. This Journal is contributing to the celebration with a new section containing invited articles on four topics: chemistry at the frontier; attitudes towards chemistry; chemistry and art; and chemistry communication.
