The paper analyzes the identity structures of the new generation of sarapes weavers in Saltillo (Mexico) from their practices as student-weavers. A qualitative methodological approach was followed based on in-depth interviews and the analysis of the identity structures of artisans, tradition and transformation. Among the results were indicators of meaning and belonging, as well as motivations, emotions and feelings in the elaboration of the sarape. In the paper, the history of the sarape of Saltillo and the different changes undergone by the process of its elaboration are taken up again. The sarape making, the gender of the new weavers and the production and economic retribution were the findings in the new generation.
