BONAVETTI, Viviana L. et al. El modelo de Powers y los límites del contenido de adición de material calcáreo en los cementos portland. Concr. cem. investig. desarro [online]. 2013, vol.5, n.1, pp.40-51. ISSN 2007-3011.
This paper presents a model analysis of portland cement hydration with calcareous material. The hydration Powers model determines the limits of contente adition that could be added in order to avoid an increase in the permeability of cementitious material to induce problems on the final strength and durability. According to the analysis made using Powers model and considering the water cementitius ratio (a/mc) stipulated by CIRSOC 201 (2013) regulation is 0.45 for under water concrete, low permeability or concrete subjected from mild to moderate chemical attacks, waterproof concretes may be developed incorporating up to 20 % of calcareous material, if same benefit is desired in concretes with calcareous material content up to 35 %, very high hydration degrees will be necessary (> 90 %). Decreasing the w / b ratio to values lower than 0.45, when using cements with more than 25 % of calcareous material, will provide waterproof concrete without requiring that cement has a very high hydration degree in work.
