Resumen

AGUILERA RUIZ, Óscar. The Student Movement in Chile, 2006-2014. An Approach from the Point of View of Culture and Indentities. Nueva antropol [online]. 2017, vol.30, n.87, pp.131-152. ISSN 0185-0636.

The aim of the present article is to understand the make-up and maintenance of the student movement in Chile between 2006 and 2014. Using qualitative methodology life experiences are combined with the participants’ own reflections, producing a diverse identity in the composition of the movement while at the same time strengthening it and demanding specific attention to the ways in which tensions derived from these various identities arise. From the cultural point of view young people joined the movement due to political ideas of visibility and identity constructs, concluding that a split occurs in the hegemony of the traditional political organizations and identities in the student militancy.
