VALLE ORELLANA, Nicolás del. Memories of the Post-dictatorship: Practices, Dates and Sites of Memories in Recent Chile. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2018, vol.63, n.232, pp.301-322. ISSN 0185-1918. https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.2448492xe.2018.232.5811.
From the analysis of social struggles for memory in the political history of contemporary Chile, it is argued that since the coup d'état in 1973 a new regime of memory began to be configured, which defines how and what to remember, forget and silence publicly regarding the collective past. With the return to democracy, in 1990, the policies of memory and human rights tended to remember what happened from the ethical-political imperative of “never again.” In this context, considering the dates, places and political practices in public commemorations, the author defines the features of the political discussion on the coup, forty years later.
