Resumen

FIGUEROA CASTRO, Óscar. The Art of Interpretation in Sanskritic India: Origins and Development. Nova tellus [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.1, pp.9-34. ISSN 0185-3058.

Based on a rich selection of primary and secondary sources, this paper discusses the fundamental role that exegesis and commentarial literature played in the development and identity of Sanskrit culture throughout more than two millennia. In order to understand the richness and, above all, the continuity of Sanskrit ars interpretandi, the article argues for the neces sity of going back to the Vedic period and retrieve a double legacy: on the one hand, the relationship between interpretation and revelation; on the other, between interpretation and liturgy.

Palabras llave : Sanskrit culture; Word; ars interpretandi; Vedas.
