Resumen
VELASCO ORTIZ, Laura. Borders, documents and labor mobility experience in the Mexico-Guatemala region. Trace (Méx. DF) [online]. 2022, n.82, pp.154-181. Epub 02-Dic-2022. ISSN 2007-2392. https://doi.org/10.22134/trace.82.2022.823.
The aim of this article is to understand the effect of border control policies -focused on migrant documentation- on the experience of cross-border labor migration in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, through a qualitative research at the town of Frontera Comalapa. The analysis of the results indicates the existence of a free zone, where the migratory status still seems to have an incipient influence on the quality of the border crossing experience and in the labor integration process; the reverse of what happens with the transit to the north of Mexico and the United States, where there is greater surveillance by the State.
