The development of joint projects involving libraries, archives and museums -the LAM institutions- is appearing more frequently in the literature. This text summarizes the common elements and differences between the three corresponding disciplines as well as with Information Science, and intends to establish, from a theoretical-practical basis, how far collaboration or convergence of the concerned institutions in cross-cutting information services projects can be developed, including some methodological elements for the design and construction of such projects.
