Introduction:

damage control surgery (CCD) refers to the rapid completion of a surgery after controlling bleeding that can threaten life and prevent contamination and then reach the correction of physiological abnormalities and definitive management, directed to avoid the lethal triad.

Objective:

to determine the clinical, laboratory and stay parameters in the intensive care unit that will be used more frequently to enter the third stage in CCD.

Material and methods:

a descriptive, retrospective and observational study was carried out on 30 files of patients undergoing CCD in the General Hospital of Querétaro, having as variables, pH, number of blood transfusions, coagulation times, temperature, stay in intensive care unit and hemoglobin.

Results:

80% male population, mean age of 43.5 years, stay in ICU of 41 hours, average Hb of 12 g/dl upon entering 3rd stage of CCD, average temperature of 36.56 degrees, pH of 7.33 and average of transfusions of 3.3 globular packages.

Conclusions:

with the present we locate in an international panorama of our acting in the second stage of CCD, in which we can undoubtedly improve in order to offer better results to our patients in the short, medium and long term.
