MANTILLA VALBUENA, Silvia. Economy and Armed Conflict in Colombia: the Effects of Globalization in the Transformation of War. Latinoamérica [online]. 2012, n.55, pp.35-73. ISSN 2448-6914.
The armed conflict in Colombia has suffered, in the past two decades, a transformation process closely linked to the economic effects and dynamics produced by the globalization phenomenon. This has been made possible mainly by two aspects: 1. The impact of the free market model, which reconfigured the Colombian state and gave in for the emergence of new factors associated with the conflict, and 2. The opportunities provided by globalization for armed actors to develop their own war economy through illegal global economies and global repertoires of international security.
