TOPETE POZAS, Olivia Paloma. Drinking Water Supply in the City of Oaxaca de Juárez During the End of the Nineteenth Century and the Beginning of the Twentieth. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.24, pp.136-162. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2017.24.319.

This article focuses on the drinking water supply system in the city of Oaxaca de Juárez at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth. It uses a historical perspective to analyze the distribution and sanitation works of this essential liquid in the state capital. This process implied changes in water distribution and led to a search for new water resources, aimed at correcting the ongoing scarcity and meeting the increasing demand for water in the city. In addition, the search for drinking water led to a conflict between the local government of Oaxaca de Juárez and that of San Agustín Etla.

Palabras llave : conflict for water; distribution; sanitation; scarcity; water resources.
