Resumen
SIMA LOZANO, Eyder Gabriel y PERALES ESCUDERO, Moisés Damián. Linguistic Attitudes towards Maya and Learning Choices of a Youth Population in Merida. Península [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.1, pp.121-144. ISSN 1870-5766.
Monolingual Spanish-Speaking youth in Merida currently state that the Mayan language is valuable and prestigious. Nevertheless, when they choose to learn a second language, preference leans towards English or another language. Motivated by this discrepancy, this study explores attitudes that influence the decisions of speakers to value one language and study another.
