Rural areas, such as the Northwest of Murcia, require measures that encourage activities that favor the sustainability of its “territorial capital”. To this end, political initiatives such as LEADER have been developed, which aim to incorporate innovative activities capable of generating complementary incomes to the traditional ones of the environment, knowing that the benefits of these measures go beyond rural areas because keeping these spaces alive has a positive repercussion on all the society.

Among the actions implemented we highlight the ones that promote the tourist activity and, in particular, those tourist products that use the resources provided by the rural environment and are the key to its sustainability. The case study has been the method used to carry out our analysis and the results achieved allow us to conclude that these policies have been a key element in the development of rural tourism in the Northwest of the Region of Murcia.
