In the context of Latin American poetry, Cuban poet Octavio Armand (1946) represents a solid and bold voice that has bet, from a very young age, on the ludic exploration of language and the resignificance of silence and blank space within the poem. Essayist, translator and poet ―whose work received the attention of essential authors such as Severo Sarduy and Javier Sologuren―, Octavio Armand has lived in exile since his teenage years: first in New York and then in Caracas, where he currently resides.

This interview explores the poet’s aesthetic, his recurring themes, the connections he establishes between poetry and essay, his personal readings and his stylistic resources. Likewise, this interview discusses the topic exile, and the poetic transformations that Armand has experienced through time, as a result of the experience of the diaspora.
