RIOS BOLIVAR, Humberto y SANCHEZ VARGAS, Armando. Income mobility in the formal and informal sectors in Mexico City 2005-2019. Anál. econ. [online]. 2021, vol.36, n.91, pp.7-32. Epub 21-Abr-2021. ISSN 2448-6655.
We aim at determining the difference in the mobility of income for workers in the formal and informal sectors in Mexico City. We use a Pseudo-panel based on the National Employment Survey (ENOE), to build cohorts, and we estimate an equation of absolute mobility and another of conditioned mobility. The results suggest that in the CDMX there is a low absolute and conditioned mobility of income in the formal and informal sectors. However, the informal sector has less income mobility compared to the formal sector. A formal public employment policy could favor the young and busy population that is in the lowest income deciles in both sectors.
