The objective of this article is to present the process of creation, organization, management and the results of the research carried out by the Research Group in Ethnomusicology of the Federal University of Paraná - GRUPETNO UFPR, since 2011. The method used was experimental, transversal hypothetical deductive-inductive, descriptive-correlational, quantitative and qualitative analytical. The relevance of the management experience sought to demonstrate how the Group contributed to the expansion and effectiveness of the field of Dialogical Ethnomusicology in Brazil. As a result, it was possible to observe the increase in research in the area with a transdisciplinary content, justified by the fact that this is the first research group with these characteristics in Brazil. The originality can be seen in the complexity of the themes involving musical practices in their respective contexts.
