The objective was to analize the National Polytechnic Institute's (IPN) scientific publication output during the 1999-2019 period. The method employed was a bibliometric analysis of 24,329 publications retrieved from the Scopus database and the intra-institutional collaboration networks were analized applying the Network Theory. The results showed a constant growth in publications and the most productive knowledge areas and academic units (AUs) and those with the highest increases were identified. Most publications were in journals published by countries with high scientific development. The collaboration networks grew very significantly during the study period. 24.4% of the publications were the product of collaborations between different AUs. The originality lies in that there were not studies of this kind for the IPN. Although a limitation is that publications not registered in Scopus were not included in the study.
