Resumen

LOPEZ TORRES, Virginia Guadalupe; MAYNEZ GUADERRAMA, Aurora Irma  y  JACOBO GALICIA, Gabriela. Covid-19: Effects on the Intention to Leave in Employees. Investig. adm. [online]. 2024, vol.53, n.133, 00003.  Epub 20-Mayo-2024. ISSN 2448-7678.  https://doi.org/10.35426/iav53n133.03.

The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of fear of Covid-19, job stress, burnout and cynicism on the intention to quit in workers in the industrial, commercial and service sectors in the Mexican border. A non-experimental quantitative research method was used, with a convenience sample of 328 employees. Relationships between constructs were tested using partial least squares (PLS) models. The results indicate that fear of Covid-19, job stress, burnout and cynicism positively affect quit intention. The findings are relevant in that the model weakly explains stress (0.134), moderately explains cynicism (0.446) and intention to quit (0.396), and moderately to substantially explains burnout (0.561). This research is original in contributing to the knowledge of occupational health by considering new factors that influence quitting intention during events such as the Covid-19 pandemic. It is limited by the fact that the data collection was done through an online survey, there is a possible selection bias due to non-probabilistic sampling.

Palabras llave : Intention to leave; Fear of Covid-19; Stress; Exhaustion; Cynicism.
