Resumen

BLANCO, Alejandro  y  BLOIS, Juan Pedro. Sociogenesis of an intellectual revolt in Argentine sociology (1960s-1970s). Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2024, vol.86, n.1, pp.139-165.  Epub 23-Feb-2024. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2024.1.61532.

During the 1960s, the field of sociology in Argentina witnessed the emergence of an intellectual movement, the so-called “national academic chairs”. This movement was characterized by strong anti-academicism and a much-politicized conception of the profession. Traditionally, this phenomenon has been explained as a product of the general politicization of the university middle classes. This article proposes an alternative explanation centered on the relationship between the social properties of the “national-popular” sociologists and the characteristics of the disciplinary field. Based on information about the social origins, schooling, and professional career, it aims to account for the social conditions that fueled politicization.

Palabras llave : sociologists; university field; politicization; Peronism; national chairs.
