VARGAS ALEJO, Verónica; ESCALANTE, César Cristóbal y CARMONA, Guadalupe. Mathematical Competences through the Implementation of Model Eliciting Activities. Educ. mat. [online]. 2018, vol.30, n.1, pp.213-236. Epub 07-Feb-2022. ISSN 2448-8089. https://doi.org/10.24844/em3001.08.
We reflect on the mathematical competences that high school students exhibited when they carried out a Model Eliciting Activity. The research question that guides the discussion is what competencies do students exhibit in solving activities close to the real life? The Models and Modeling perspective and the Kilpatrick concept of competencies are part of our theoretical framework. Through the data analysis, we identified the competences of conceptual understanding, fluency, strategical competence, adaptive reasoning and productive disposition.
