The author of this detailed study about cancellation of commercial paper offers a wide historical analysis of this legal institution. Moreover, the essay continues with a review of the Mexican legal system, trying to identify the doctrinal references of Mexico's legislature, which have led to a peculiar legal regime in this matter. On the basis of the latter analysis, the author puts forward an argument in favour of a reform of the Law on Commercial Paper, which is too complex and is not practical, as far as the cancellation procedure is concerned.
