SERRA PUCHE, Mari Carmen y LAZCANO ARCE, J. Carlos. Arqueología en el sur de la cuenca de México. Diagnóstico y futuro: In memoriam W. T. Sanders. Cuicuilco [online]. 2009, vol.16, n.47, pp.19-38. ISSN 0185-1659.
Based on the studies performed during the 70's by William T. Sanders and his collaborators on the southern portion of the basin of Mexico, we have been able to conceptualize this region as a matrix of complex interactions between several social organization strategies and techno-functional levels applied to a particular environment and natural resources availability. Although, the original work of Sanders and his team was abandoned, his conclusions have been retaken by several researches in order to explain the social development and organization schemes of this people as an adaptive strategy to their particular environment. This is why, our excavations at Terremote-Tlaltenco, Temamatla and Xochimilco sites have been aimed to understand the driving forces of this processes. As we agree with several of Sander's ideas on designing the future archeological research of the Basin o Mexico, we have developed several strategies in order to pursue his work.
