This article aims to argue in favor of a resignification of the democratic institutions through the analysis of two cases: the National Front against Poverty (Argentina) and CONALCAM, the National Coordination for Change (Bolivia). It will produce convincing elements and evidence in favor of a necessary opening of participatory channels, which contributes to improving the welfare of the population and enabling greater citizen participation in public affairs. The reflections are registered in the framework of the doctoral research on the pro-welfare coalitions in Latin America, in a comparative perspective, which raises the likelihood of pacts or alliances between social movements and progressive governments as an explanatory variable of welfare regimes reconfiguration.
