Resumen
MORENO OLIVOS, Tiburcio. Cultura profesional del docente y evaluación del alumnado. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2002, vol.24, n.95, pp.23-36. ISSN 0185-2698.
This article contains a thematic analysis whose reflections spring from a research work (1996-2000) that was carried out in order to be granted a doctor's degree in Pedagogy at the University of Murcia (Spain). Although the central focus of the dissertation was not the analysis of teaching cultures, but rather the assessment practices of students within the context of the Obligatory Secondary Education (Enseñanza Secundaria Obligatoria, or ESO), the problem of teaching cultures gradually became one of the main theoretical references: the fundamental interest was indeed to know which assessment models the faculty actually used in their practice, starting from the premise that although it is true that every teacher has got his/her own way to assess, to value his/her students' learning results, he/she also shares a collegial way to conceive and practice assessment. This is where teaching cultures become important, since they have a considerable influence on the professional actitude of the teacher (as an assessor), such as shown in the results of the above-mentioned research.
